After the match, ECW Damage Control was rushed into the ring to cut the two men free of the barbed wire. When they told Sabu they were going to take him to the hospital, he replied, "No, just get me out of this and I'll be fine... I'll be fine."
Sabu's glory, however, was short-lived. At Hardcore Heaven 1997, Sabu, Terry Funk and Shane Douglas got it on again, in a match that paid tribute to the night Douglas won the original ECW World title, now known as "The Night the Line was Crossed." Sabu was eliminated early on, due to interference from the Sandman. The two then became embroiled in a bitter feud that saw Sabu rip a page out of his uncle's book by throwing fire at the Sandman. The stage was now set for an incredible feud of hardcore warriors.
Sabu went on to defeat the Sandman in a Tables and Ladders match at November to Remember 1997 with an Arabian Facebuster with a ladder. Sandman attained a measure of revenge at House Party ‘98 in a Stairway to Hell Match (several lengths of barbed wire were hung from the ceiling, and a ladder was in the ring to either be used as a weapon, or a means to get the wire). Sabu shot back though, pinning the Sandman in a Dueling Canes match at Living Dangerously.
Victory is his destiny. Violence is his legacy. This man IS the extreme. He has proved it time and time again. He knows no fear. He enjoys pain. He will not stop until he has won. He is a homicidal, suicidal, genocidal human machine of destruction. Whether it be barbed wire, tables, ladders, chairs, or flames, he will fight through it to gain victory. Sabu is more than an athlete... he is a phenomenon.

Sabu was currently working for TNA but is out injured. Returning to TNA in 2004, Sabu stood by his friend Raven as he attempted to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title. However, it was Raven's selfish actions that split their friendship and put the now bitter enemies on a collision course!
19/12/04 Many TNA wrestlers worked the special benefit show for Sabu in Belleville, MI. The show was sold out with an estimated 600 people in attendance and many were under the impression that numerous other fans were turned away. The main event featured Shane Douglas pinning Raven with Mick Foley as the special guest referee.
All wrestlers that worked the benefit show were not paid. Some sold pictures during the intermission and donated the profits to Sabu. However, some had to pull the money from their picture sales to pay for the travel expenses. At one point TNA was going to cover the transportation costs for their talent, but that didn't end up taking place. You would have thought that some one like sabu whos put his whole body through pain all of his life wrestling would be ok for money and not need it donated.
Well its been a few months since sabu been injured so hope he gets healthy soon and makes a returning to the ring at TNA soon.
12/06/05 Sabu returned to the ring in ECW one night stand this is what happend....
RVD then continued to shoot from the heart, claiming he was going back to a time when his vocabulary was not limited to simply “whatever” or “cool.” Van Dam said that the time he spent in ECW was the best of his career. In fact, ECW was so important to RVD that not being able to compete at One Night Stand because of injury was worse than missing any overseas WWE event or even WrestleMania. RVD then went into how he planted the seed of One Night Stand into Mr. McMahon’s head. But before he could get into it anymore, Rhyno ran to the ring and Gored an unsuspecting Van Dam.
Immediately after the Gore, the lights at the Hammerstein Ballroom shut off, leaving the arena completely black. When the lights finally came back on, Sabu was standing in the middle of the ring. Rhyno and Sabu then competed in an unscheduled match.
Rhyno, the last ECW World Heavyweight Champion, looked to be in the best shape of his career. Unfortunately for Rhyno, however, his chiseled frame was not enough to stop the three-on-one attack of Sabu, RVD and Alfonso. Van Dam eventually slammed Rhyno with a steel chair, then placed him on top of a table. From there, Sabu, using another steel chair as a weapon, leg dropped Rhyno through the table. That proved to be enough for the pinfall victory.
